New boat inventory was up 5.6 percent over the same 11-month years of 2010 while used boat inventory was down 7.9 percent.

Cast-off unit gross margins were up by nearly two percentage points over this era, with the average gross margin percentage earned on new boats 0.7 interest points above the new boat gross margin in 2010. Total dealership bawdy margins were down almost one percentage point below the average gross margins in 2010.

Dealers reported spending was 8 percent greater than in the same era of 2010 and all expense categories were up with the exception of floorplan interest and fixed expenses.

Spader said depending on how December numbers hit in from dealers, it’s looking like even though sales are up in 2011, the average stockist is going to have Net Operating Profit about equal to 2010.
