Is a collecting of quick stories and poems by six Shetland writers.  As the term suggests, the theme focuses on Shetland’s fishing elegance, and the writers knotty have cast-off conversations with fishermen, gutters and their families, to demonstrate new works with a run-of-the-mill article.

Laureen Johnson, who researched the seasonal trade of the gutters as they followed the herring, celebrates their grind in poems like Barrels , this book provides a ludicrous comparison to the existing library of factual studies of Shetland’s fishing vigour.  Illustrated with unembellished virgule and rid oneself of drawings by John Cumming, it gathers from the spend traditions of those Shetlanders who went to sea in search of rations, fellowship, escapade and mastery; and those who added value to the catch in the herring-curing business.  It is, as John Goodlad suggests in his prelude, a scheme lengthy late.  Let’s count this is only the first of many such ventures.  The writers will deliver assign to from their travail on...
