The 55th Mid-America Boat Show continues through this weekend at the Cosmopolitan Exposition Center in Cleveland.

Sponsored by Progressive Insurance and produced by Lake Erie Oceanic Trades Association, the show dropped anchor last weekend and will stay at the I-X Center until 6 p.m. Sunday.

The show includes its workaday assortment of dealers displaying sailboats, powerboats, ski boats, fishing boats, pontoon boats and slighting watercraft. Marine equipment and clothing also is being exhibited throughout the show.

Other booths are being operated by experts in boat financing, take sources, marina representatives, state watercraft safety and law enforcement officials, and others dealing in a miscellany of other boat-related topics.

Angler’s Alley has returned this year and plentifulness of fishing pros and experts will take the stage to talk to 100-capital audiences on bass, walleye and perch fishing, explaining the individual benefits of an array of lures and baits.

Normandy Channel Race Start - Yachts and Yachting Online

The first competition of Normandy Guide Get a wiggle on the tail set today at 1400 hours off of Hermanville-sur-Mer in the Calvados department of France. 10 League 40, skippered by 20 sailors, had over 1,000 miles in front of them now, engaging them through certain areas steersmanship fantasy, including the islands of St. Marcouf Barfleur, the Solent on the south coast England, the Celtic Sea, Irish Sea, Fastnet legendary Lull and the Raz Blanchard.

The competitors are expected for the replacement of Caen on Friday or Saturday.

Advanced this afternoon, the sailors participating in the Normandy Neck Spillway crossed the start field in placate seas and a 10 band WSW’ly snap. Yvan Noblet and David Taboré got off to a great start on harbour bind. Suffocating-hauled, several boats opted to hug the strand, where some got tangled up in lobster pots. Tanguy De Lamotte even had to duck under his boat to unravel nets laced around his rudders!...

International 505 Europa Cup at Riva del Garda, Italy - Yachts and ...

Intercontinental 505 Europa Cup, Riva del Garda, Italy (7-9 May 2010)

8 races sailed, all in 16+ tie winds. 58 entries from 9 nations, including far-flung Denmark, Finland and Ireland, and Croatia from the east, and furthest of all Mike Holt and Carl Smit from USA.

The regatta was won by GER 8875 Jens Findel and Johannes Tellen. First British boat GBR 9032 was 5th sailed by Ian Pinnell and Ian Mitchell, ethical beating on tiebreak the Irish IRL 8961 sailed by Ewan Barry and Charles Dwyer.

The ride out was not famous but the sailing was incredible. This accounts for the British 6 boat trailer being fully booked for next year's Europa Cup at Riva in May 2011 and the European Championship at Malcesine further down Lake Garda in September 2011. Comments from habitual 505 sailors Roger Deane and Dennis Carwright sailing at Riva for the first nevertheless was that this was the trounce sailing they had ever had.
