So here is that advice from yachties young and old, active and retired, near and far. And honest like their starts, these yachties’ bits of advice are as assorted as yachts themselves. 

What advice would you give a person thinking of getting a job on a yacht?

Cruel work, be ready to listen and learn quick. That's the way to earn salutations and go up the ladder.

Treat it like a real job and not a hobby. It is only a hobby to the guy paying your wages.

Start young and have a long-term plan.

Try to have a good contract of the industry so you know what to expect. Also try to find the happy medium between the fantasy and the actuality of the business. Be discreet at all times and learn how to be reasonable. This is not a business for thoughtless people. Enjoy every moment; you will miss it when you leave the yacht sustenance. Other than your responsibilities, don't take it too seriously; it is only a rich person’s toy. When you are not having fun, leave.

The 2010 Pendennis Cup Sailing Yacht Regatta

The Pendennis Cup crew have announced their design to hang on the 2nd and 3rd editions of the Pendennis Cup regatta sailing in 2010 and the Olympic year 2012. The dates of the regatta 9 to 14 August 2010 and preliminary plans for 2012 are tightening the race in advance of summer, the race will be run by the docking of Falmouth Sailing privacy and the Earl of Cornwall Yacht Consortium.

Following the star of the regatta in 2008, both events will have a full entertainment pr which groups five days of competitive race on the waters of Falmouth Bay - giving owners and crews a prospect to delight in a meeting "more and Cornish" and allowing them to go down to Falmouth and its enchanting.
