An estimated $15,000 has been imperturbable from the new boat-ramp fees at the Waitaki lakes.

Camp boss Simon Fox said he predicted around $20,000 would be collected by the end of the season. The Waitaki Precinct Council would know the exact amount by Easter, he said.

The launch fees were set by the area council in June at $50 for a season pass and $5 for a day outmoded.

Council property manager Dougall McIntyre said the currency would go toward maintenance, repairs and special projects at the seven boat ramps in the locality.

The two special projects planned were widening and repairing the Otematata rise and the widening of the Sailors Cutting ramp.

Both would need to be approved by the caucus first, he said.

The council was working with the Timaru Yacht and Power Small craft Club on upgrading the Otematata ramp, which the club used every Toil Day weekend for a regatta.

The Ohau C ramp at Lake Benmore had been scheduled for an upgrade this season but that was cancelled due to the straight of the lake.
